Sourced
Sourced is a conceptual cannabis delivery app inspired by my passion for designing user-centered experiences. Combining the convenience of Uber Eats with personalized, intentional features, every aspect of the design was meticulously crafted based on extensive research. The app includes tools for journaling, strain tracking, gamification, and a favorites log for strains and dispensaries, fostering mindful and informed cannabis consumption.
01
Problem Statement
Users seeking cannabis products often struggle to find personalized and reliable recommendations while keeping track of their preferences, leading to less intentional consumption. Additionally, existing apps lack engaging features like gamification to enhance the ordering experience, such as tracking order preparation and delivery progress. Furthermore, strain cards fail to provide tailored information about the feelings or medical benefits they offer, leaving users without the context they need to make informed choices.
02
Solution
Sourced addresses these challenges by creating a cannabis delivery app that prioritizes personalization, engagement, and education. The app features a strain tracking system and customized strain cards highlighting feelings and medical benefits, helping users make informed, intentional choices. Gamification elements, such as real-time updates on order preparation and delivery, enhance the user experience and foster trust. By integrating tools like journaling, a favorites log, and intuitive recommendations, Sourced empowers users to track preferences, discover new products, and cultivate mindful consumption habits.

Breaking the Mold: Redefining Cannabis UX Beyond Weedmaps and Leafly
I conducted competitive analyses of Weedmaps and Leafly to identify pain points such as limited user personalization, lack of engaging features, and insufficient tools for tracking strain effects, which informed Sourced’s focus on gamification, journaling, and tailored recommendations.
Strengths
User Reviews: They feature robust user-generated reviews and ratings, offering insights into product quality and user experiences.
Educational Resources: Both apps offer educational content to help users understand cannabis strains, effects, and legal regulations, catering to novice and experienced users alike.
Comprehensive Information: Both Weedmaps and Leafly provide extensive databases of cannabis products, strains, and dispensaries, making them reliable sources for discovery.
Weaknesses
Minimal User Engagement: Features like gamification or interactive elements to encourage deeper user involvement are absent.
Limited Consumption Tracking: Users cannot log how specific strains made them feel or create a tailored record of favorites for future reference, hindering intentional consumption.
Lack of Personalization: Neither app offers tools for users to track their individual experiences with strains, limiting personalized recommendations.

Realized Potential

After testing Sourced with 20 users, 85% reported that the journaling feature helped them track strain effects more intentionally, and 70% expressed interest in using the gamification tools long-term. Additionally, 90% said the app's personalization made it more engaging compared to current cannabis apps.
